Garnett Street will be closed from CVS Pharmacy to Rose Avenue\, including all of the side streets along the parade route. \nPlease notify your staff and potential customers of alternative parking on the side streets prior to these two events. DESCRIPTION:Bring the family to downtown Henderson\, NC on Friday\, October 29\, 2021 from 4:30pm to 6pm. Participating business will be handing out candy to Trick or Treat’ers. We’re excited to see this years costumes!\nGarnett Street will be CLOSED to vehicle traffic starting after lunch time until after this event.\nDowntown businesses and groups are encouraged to participate in our annual Trick or Treat this October 29th\, 2021 from 4:30pm to 6pm\nIn this event\, local children and families come visit our downtown area and go to the businesses for trick or treat. This event is advertised in local media and through the school system.\nBusinesses are responsible for purchasing their own candy and handing out the candy. There is no fee to participate. Just be at your business location and give out candy! You may find it easier to be on the sidewalk outside your store when there are many people.\nWe encourage all businesses and organizations to decorate your storefront for Halloween\, we need to attract people back to downtown after a rough year!\nIf you would like to participate in giving out candy but do not have a place in downtown to do so please contact Alice Sallins at 252-767-4579 or Tracy Madigan at 252-425-0844 and we can find somewhere you can setup a table or vehicle.\nIn previous years\, this event draws a huge amount of people to downtown! DESCRIPTION:Downtown Henderson Christmas Parade 2020 Rules and Regulations \nSaturday\, December 7\, 2020 \n5:00 pm \nThis is a Drive Thru Parade \nAll participants will remain in their designated spot for two hours as cars drive through  \n1– All Floats\, Fire trucks\, and vehicles with trailers are to line up at3:30pm. All other parade entries begin line up at 4:00pm and NO LATER than 4:30pm.  You will be giving a space on Garnett Street where you (group) will remain for two hours. \n\n We recommend that you have your participants to dress appropriately for the weather\, careful to layer. Also\, have participants to switch positions periodically if they are performing. \n\n3– Floats will be judged based on attractiveness\, best use of theme\, and  riders dressed according to theme.  Judges decisions are final. Prizes are awarded as follows: 1st = $100 ~ 2nd = $50 ~ 3rd = $25 – PLEASE NOTE: Only paid entries will be eligible for prize money! \n4– Unless using a professional float\, all entries are responsible for parade transportation. \n5– ALL ENTRIES MUST HAVE A CHRISTMAS THEME.  For example: Antique autos are to be decorated for Christmas. In a car club – All Cars in the Group Must Be Decorated! Musical groups are encouraged to play Christmas music. NO ONE will be allowed to participate in the parade WITHOUT a Christmas theme; this includes businesses\, cars\, trucks\, marching units\, etc \n\n All entries with homemade floats/trailers will receive $20 off of entry fee \n\n7– Due to safety reasons\, MOTORCYCLES AND HORSES ARE PROHIBITED. Three or four Wheelers are not permitted \n8– The parade entry fee includes UP TO 3 VEHICLES for car clubs. Additional vehicles are $10 each.  Example: 1 to 3 cars = 1 entry fee of $55; 3 cars +1 = $65. \n\nPlease use lights when possible because it will be an evening parade\n\n10– Henderson City Code Section 10- 23 states: “No one participating in a parade or proceeding along the route of a parade shall distribute handbills\, advertising matter\, candy\, cigarettes\, prizes\, or favors of any kind\, within one hundred feet of any moving  motor vehicle or within one hundred feet of any group of parade participants marching in an organized marching formation.” \n11– Each entry must include a sign or banner with the organizations name. \n12– Only preauthorized groups will be allowed to participate in the parade. No more than 25 individuals representing a single organization or club will be allowed. (This EXCLUDES organized walking or marching units) \n13– Any unauthorized persons/vehicles will be turned away. NO ONE will be allowed to enter into the parade at the parade. ALL ENTRIES MUST MEET DEADLINES. \n14– We will allow for enough space to ensure that you socially distance. Wear masks\, please \n15– No refunds will be given for no shows or entries that are removed due to rule infractions. \n16– It is the responsibility of each person participating in the parade to adhere to all applicable local\, state and/or federal  laws.  The Vance County Arts Council\, The City of Henderson\, sponsors\, contributors\, and supporters deny liability for any damages\, injuries\, or losses as a result of  participating in the 2020 Henderson Christmas Parade. \nIn the event that we have severe inclement weather on 12/05/20\, the parade will be held on 12/12/20\, A telephone call will be made to all parade contacts if this change occurs.
